Put aside

No longer wanted, tossed

Across a pile of the broken

The outdated, the spoiled

Left to mingle and slide

Deep into the stench

Pawed over by claws

Food for the unbidden

The hidden hordes

Spiders, beetles, millipedes and roaches

Decay descends

Pieces split away

Slime grows white, green and black

Rain dissolves the remains

Washes away anything

To prove I existed

  1. What an unexpected twist, I didn’t see the ending of the poem coming! You describe the rubbish powerfully, especially in the part with the insects. It’s a well written and deeply affecting poem. Thank you for sharing it!

    • Thank you Aquileana. It is encouraging for you to say so. I am sorry it took so long for me to respond but I have been taken away from blogging to keep up with other activities. Even as I carry out those other activities I am thinking about writing and blogging. I am happy to see your comment as I return to my blog after being away. In love and light Cheryle. Enjoy your week and upcoming weekend

  2. In checking in on your site I found this poem, which matches my mood today; brain dead on words. Then I laughed at myself, not your poem. It perked me up or out of my funk…have a great day. Ann
